Swim Floats
Many waterfront homes can utilize a swim float. These are particularly
popular on lake front homes. Kids and adults alike will have a great
place to lounge on or jump into the water from a well built swim float.
Swim floats are constructed in a very similar fashion as floating dock
but rather then being rectangular they are usually square shaped.
Pressure treated wood is historically the most popular construction
material but trex plastic wood decking used with a wood frame has
advantages (including no splinters). Buoyancy is usually provide with
Styrofoam available at any local marine hardware store. Store bought
swim float fits are also available and offer a great advantage to anyone
that is not handy with tools. Swim floats are usually moored in place
and have a ladder to allow swimmers to climb out of the water. Depending
on depth of the water a slide or a diving board can be added for
additional family fun.
