a summer day on the Peconic River. The Peconic River is in Suffolk
County, New York. The river is located in the eastern end of Long
Island. The Peconic River originates in the bogs and wetlands of central
Long Island and flows into the Peconic Bay east of Riverhead, New York.
It is the longest river on Long Island and is very slow-moving. Canoes and kayaks can be rented
or you can bring your own.
Turtles and other wild life
are often observed along the Peconic River's shores.
